In summer, the lake plateau of Tauplitzalm, with its beautiful karst landscapes and interesting vegetation is a very popular hiking area. It is one of the most beautiful upland lake plateaus of Europe. The sixs picturesque mountain lakes (Krallersee, Märchensee, Großsee, Tauplitsee and Steiersee) have drinking water quality and are accessibly for swimming. They are surrounded by species-rich, high-karst alpine flora and easy to hike to. In spring and autumn, the alpine flowers put on a wonderful show and in autumn the larch forest put the countryside in glorious colours. Don´t miss spring on the Tauplitzalm, when the meadows are resplendet with blossoms.
The lakes can easily be explored, also possible in different stages. For the six-lakes hike you need sturdy shoes. Depending on your condition and the breaks you take the 6-lakes-hike takes about 4 -6 hours.
You can also explore the Tauplitzalm by bike. You can take your bike for free at the quad chair lift.
Further daytrips are possible to the Traweng (1981m) Großes Tragl (2179m), Almkogel (2116m) and Rosskogel (1890m), Lawinenstein (1966m) & Schneiderkogel )1765m).
For real climbers there is the ´Klettersteig Sturzhahn´, difficulty C. Be aware that a helmet, safety belt and climbing equipment is necessary !
